I've used Vista 5308 for a while and I just now downloaded/installed Office 2007 beta 2. From available Office 2007 downloads, I chose and installed: Office Pro Outlook Business Contact Mgr One Note Project
I did not "register for support" after any of the apps installed. I rebooted before trying any apps ( figuring I'd then register) and when I try to run any of them I get an error and a popup asking if I'd like to send an error report to MSFT. I don't know / it doesn't tell me what the error is , BUT in Control Panel - Solutions - it does say that it is a known error and will be fixed in the next release. Am I on Candid Camera ? My download is 2 hours old and it's a KNOWN bug and will be fixed Next time - No office app even STARTS ( yes i'm yelling at my PC) !!!
Perhaps Office 2007 Beta and Vista Beta don't work together ? Although I thought that THAT was the whole idea ? I sent them this text as feedback. Any suggestions to get this going ? I'm off to look for answers ( someplace other than MSFT website which doesn't offer me any solution). Bobb

Vista 5308 / Office 2007 Beta2 work OK together ?
I believe that I have read that Office 2007 Beta requires the Vista Beta 2 (5384 build).

Office 2007 beta does NOT require Vista Beta 2... I'm running it fine with no problems on MCE 2005... :-)

Curious, any issues come to mind installing Vista beta 2 as dual boot with Office 2007 beta 2 already installed...?

You might want to rethink that question: Windows Vista - Client operating system Office 2007 - Productivity suite.

Exactly. With the beta 2 of Office 2007 installed under my original OS (XP), a dual-booted install of Vista could, and should, care less. I'll now return to my dish Andre. As always, thanks for your help.

Ok, I went to MSFT site to download latest version. I got a passport prompt ( which I haven't used in a Lonnnng time) "You can sign in here with your existing e-mail address and password." I went entered my login info and I get:
"The e-mail address or password is incorrect. Please retype the e-mail address and password, or sign up if you haven't already done so. "
No it's not incorrect - it's the same email I got when they sent me this - long ago:
From: "Microsoft Certification" mswwprog@microsoft.com And what I do for passwords is send myself an email with my password so I can save it on my PC.(which I just read) so I clicked "forgot my password" and it asks me some obscure question ( favorite old TV show) that I didn't select - I always choose "dog's name". Sure I can create another hotmail account, but it's not one that is assocaited with my MSFT certs / training. 5308 I got via DVD at MSFT Tech Tour in May , not via download. I'm thinking that maybe my "old passport account" expired when they went to Live ? Anyone been here ? How to get around this ?
Unless you have a current MSDN subscription, or Technet Plus, you'll have to wait until the CPP of Beta 2 is released. That's the only way to get downloads at the moment.

If you're using Vista with Office 12, you'll need Vista Build 5384 or higher. For passport profile issues (it could be a cookie setting on the PC) you can use http://passport.net

Hi Bobb,
FWIW, the new "Windows Vista Ultimate" Beta2 Preview build is now available for download or ordering a CD from http://microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx
Note, however, this admonition on the website.
This is beta code and should not be used in a production environment or on a main machine in the home. Beta 2 is intended for developers, IT professionals and technology experts to continue or begin their testing of Windows Vista. Before you decide to use Beta 2, you should feel comfortable with installing operating systems, updating drivers, and general PC troubleshooting. Some risks of using beta operating systems include hardware and software incompatibility and system instability. If you have concerns about installing this beta software on your computer, we encourage you to obtain the final release version of Windows Vista when it is available in 2007.
For Office 2007 Beta 2, it isn't supported on Windows vista builds earlier than 5384, so any issues that you find in build 5308 compatibility mode aren't going to be too valid in trying to wring out bugs in Office 2007 before it launches :)

I tried to download - clicked the URL - entered my passport info, got a windows key page, and when I hit continue, I then got a message stating - "server busy try later". I tried later and get:
Thank you for participating in the Microsoft Windows Vista Customer Preview Program. You have received the maximum number of Product Keys available for this program. Note: Windows Vista Beta 2 can be installed and activated on up to 10 PCs using with one Product Key.
And that's it - I can't download it ! I think they have a bug in the system: it noted my email to track that I did get a key , but now prevents me from getting the download.

I also noted THIS at the end of the page for any " XP upgraders":
In addition, once you install Windows Vista Beta 2 (or RC1) you cannot roll back to the previous operating system installation-you will either have to acquire and install the final released edition of Windows Vista or reinstall a previous edition of Windows.

Hi I am Vince and I just started using Vista build 5384-2 and I am having a problem with loading office 2007 says the certificate is no good whats up with that. Are they going to wait for the release before we can test office 2007. Also IE7b2 doesn't work eather.

Bobb
I'm running 5384 (from CD, don't know about '-2'; don't know what that is) IE7b2 is working fine. I've downloaded OfficeProPlus, VisioPro, ProjectPro, OneNote and BCM. (Don't plan to use BCM.) OfficeProPlus and VisioPro both extracted, loaded, authenticated and run fine. Can't get ProjectPro or OneNote to extract from either a USB 20M Archer or 1G stick; go through the motions on double-click but never start the extraction process. All work fine on an XPSP2 Sony VAIO laptop across the room using the same disk setups.
Guess I'll copy them to the Vista hard drive and try it that way.
Overall I'm very pleased with all the improvements.

If you are using this beta on a production network at home and are running a business, PLEASE make backups of your vital information NOW. Remember, this is Beta software and is not meant for running production environments and is not stable. Your information and files can be corrupted anytime and there is no guarantee they can be recovered. Additionally, you may be required to format your computers before the release version is available.
Just a warning.

Thanks for the warning:). The key to my scenario is the statement re:"XPSP2 machines". They are the actual production systems; the Vista machine/environment merely runs alongside for comparison purposes.
